Dr. Sophia Maines

Dr. Sophia Maines, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, CMTPT received her physical therapy degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center.

As a staff physical therapist at PhysioFitness, LLC in Rockville, MD, and at Bethesda Physiocare in Bethesda, MD, Sophia treats patients with a variety of orthopaedic conditions. She also works with patients with connective tissue disorders, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

 

Sophia is a board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedics (OCS) from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a certified strength and conditioning specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling through Myopain Seminars.

Sophia has particular interest in treatment of temporomandibular disorders, and craniofacial and orofacial pain. She has taken advanced coursework from the Dutch-based Cranio Facial Therapy Academy.

Sophia specializes in Trigger Point Dry Needling. However she has advanced training in many techniques including Fascial Manipulation, Manual Trigger Point Therapy, and Graston Technique. She also has completed courses in manual therapy from the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy and in CranioSacral Therapy.

She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP).
